The Story
Mindset Then Mastery did not begin as a philosophy. It began as a pattern noticed across thousands of hours of coaching people who wanted to get better at something difficult.
On a tennis court, the gap between wanting to improve and actually improving is impossible to hide. Motivation shows up early and leaves quickly. What remains is whether someone has defined what they are chasing, designed a path that fits their life, and built the patience to refine it.
That same pattern held everywhere else — in writing, in business, in the ordinary work of getting good at something. Mindset first, because the way you think about the work determines the quality of the work. Then mastery, because it is earned in the repetitions after the excitement fades.
The result is a framework meant to be used, not admired: Define, Design, Refine.
The Intersection
Years of teaching people to improve in real conditions — where progress is measured, not imagined.
A career as a tennis professional, a discipline where repetition, feedback, and adjustment are visible daily.
Published books written to make ideas usable rather than merely inspiring.
Building things means testing ideas against reality — the fastest correction to comfortable theory.
Explaining a skill well requires understanding it structurally. Teaching sharpened the framework.
The method is applied to its own author: define, design, refine, repeat.
On Court
Years spent teaching on court, alongside the teams and players who made improvement measurable rather than theoretical.

The Work Behind the Method
The method was shaped through years of teaching, observing, adjusting, and helping people improve in real conditions.
